Larry’s election shows his true colours — PRS

KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) viewed the election of Larry Sng as president of Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) as simply showing the true colours of him and his father Dato Sng Chee Hua.

“Earlier we were told that Larry, the special youth advisor to the State Government, had no involvement in SWP. Now it is being confirmed that Larry is involved as he has been made the President of SWP,” said PRS secretary general Datuk Wilfred Nissom.

“These latest events in SWP simply show the true colour of both Larry and his father. And perhaps, by now, also, the people who had earlier disapproved of PRS sacking of Larry and his father from the party would begin to understand”.

He was commenting on the events in Sibu where Larry was elected the party’s president at its first general meeting.

Larry himself announced his election as SWP president yesterday on his Facebook and Twitter. A day earlier, he got people guessing by stating that he would return to active politics.

SWP has declared itself as BN-friendly, but wants to contest in the six parliamentary seats held by PRS in the coming general election.

The elder Sng is the party’s prime mover, and has been active promoting SWP in the PRS’ areas. Larry, on the other hand, had been a partyless assistant minister since 2008 before being dropped as BN candidate in last year’s state election.

According to Nissom, SWP would not benefit BN even if it were to win any of the seats.

“Now it is being confirmed that SWP is set to fight BN in the 6 BN parliamentary seats held by PRS. Should SWP succeed, not only PRS but also the Federal BN would be hurt,” he said.

The six PRS parliamentary seats are Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Julau, Kanowit, Selangau and Hulu Rajang.
