PBB Youth stages anti-Anwar protest

SIBU: Members of 10 PBB Youth branches in the Central Zone held a peaceful protest here on Sunday against the visit of PKR de

facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Among the 150 protesters were also members of PBB Youth Economic Bureau, Pekida Sibu, Unit Media Baru, and Persatuan Seni Silat Nafas Alam (Nafas) Wilayah Sibu.

They carried posters bearing a variety of phrases, written in Bahasa Malaysia, which basically drummed home their message that Anwar cannot be trusted.

PBB Tamin Youth chief Michael Mew said the intention of Anwar visiting the state was to sow hatred.

“He is not here to safeguard the interests of the people. The people in Sarawak have long been living in a peaceful and prosperous environment. However, since the presence of Datuk Seri Anwar and his political ideology, the harmonious living in many places, including kampungs, has started to turn into an uproarious state.”

Although Malaysians are free to visit any part of this country, Michael said for the sake of peace and harmony, the authorities should stop people like Anwar coming to the state.

He said rallies like Bersih 3.0 might one day be staged in Sarawak if political leaders from the Opposition visited the state too often.
