KUALA LUMPUR: DAP vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim has announced his resignation from the party and relinquished all party posts.
“It”s true. I have resigned,” he said via the short-messaging service to Bernama today to confirm the news that was broadcast by several news portals which picked up his statement in a interview with a private television network.
Tunku Abdul Aziz in his SMS however did not mention the reason for his action.
Tunku Abdul Aziz, who joined DAP in 2008, had earlier disagreed with the party”s backing of a rally in the federal capital on April 28 for fear that it could turn violent.
His protest caused differences in opinions within the DAP leadership.
Following that, the DAP reportedly did not extend his term as a senator.
Tunku Abdul Aziz was appointed senator in 2009 to fill the quota for the Penang state government. –Bernama
