SRI AMAN: Sri Aman MP Masir Kujat yesterday said that Sarawak Workers’ Party (SWP) claim to be close friends with Barisan National (BN) is false and confusing to the people.

“If SWP said they are close friends of BN, why are they pitting their candidates against Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) in the upcoming election?” asked Masir who is Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) vice president.

“PRS is a BN component party,” he said, pointing out that SWP is not a BN component.

Masir was speaking at a Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Simanggang branch Gawai programme at Rumah Suntai Awel, Kampung Empadi Tengah Undop near here.

He added it was clear that SWP is anti BN and is all out to defeat all PRS candidates in the next parliamentary election (or GE13).

“We already know that SWP is putting all their candidates in PRS seats. This proves that they are an enemy of BN, not a friend,” said Masir.

However he said that they (PRS) would not stop anyone (or any party) contesting against any BN seat because Malaysia subscribe’s to the principles of democracy.

At the same time, he reminded the people not to be easily swayed by SWP’s election promises, especially when they are mount their political activities during longhouse visits.

“We hope that the people will not be easily influenced by at tempts to convince them to topple the current (BN) representatives. SWP is only making empty promises to confuse the people. We believe that the people know BN always fulfill their promises,” he said.

The Gawai programme was officiated by Simanggang assemblyman and SUPP Simanggang branch chairman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

Also present at the event were Penghulu Micheal John Sanggup, Kapitan Kuek Aik Seng and local councillors Sawing Sumar and Geri Jawan.
