KULIM: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the government has fulfilled all promises made in Budget 2012 to prove that the Barisan Nasional (BN) always keeps its word.
The Prime Minister said the BN was confident that it could do more for the nation and because of this, it needed a bigger mandate in the upcoming general election.
“The government wants a full mandate, not a marginal victory. We want a big victory to guarantee greater success for our beloved nation,” he said when launching the “Promises Fulfilled “ tour at the Kulim Hi-Tech Park here yesterday.
He said the three years he has been prime minister was only the beginning of a bigger transformation to be undertaken by the BN for the people and country.
“We will work even harder. We have many ideas for Kedah, we have not forgotten Kedah although now it is ruled by the opposition. The people of Kedah themselves also want many changes,” he said.
Prime Minister said the strong bond between the government and the people was not because of blind loyalty to the leaders but was based on the government’s ability to fulfill promises made.
He said the BN as a responsible government had promised to reduce the burden of the people and this is what it had done.
“We promised to give BR1M (1Malaysia People’s Aid), we gave. We promised RM100 aid to each school student, we did. Similarly the 1Malaysia people’s shops (KR1M), 1Malaysia’s people’s menu. When there are floods, we provide matresses, cooking stoves.
“The BN’s principle is that our word is our bond. Their (opposition’s) promises are ‘auta’ (empty talk). In Kedah, their manifesto in the last election was “Kedah Sejahtera Nikmat Untuk Semua” (Kedah’s Prosperity Will Be Enjoyed by All), but look at what has happened, it has all been empty talk,” he said.
For the people Kedah, he said, if they wanted changes for the better, they would have to start with politics in the next election.
He added that the BN still had much to do and urged the people to place their trust in the coalition as it has been the best example of a government that had been able to develop the country and its people. — Bernama
