SEBERANG JAYA: Pakatan Rakyat is all set for the general election as they have finalised talks on seat allocations and electoral strategies. PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said the Pakatan allies PKR, DAP and PAS are ready to take on Barisan Nasional. “We have settled more than 90 per cent of the pressing issues pertaining to election. We now have to resolve only small matters,’’ he told a PKR rally in Seberang Jaya Agricultural Expo Site last night.
The rally was held as a show of support and solidarity for Anwar Ibrahim. Saifuddin said the last general election results have ripped apart the form book and mocked the boast by Umno and BN that certain states or constituencies were their fortresses. He said the Umno’s current propaganda that Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Johor or Pahang were its strongholds were merely a myth. He is optimistic that Pakatan stood a good chance to capture the federal government if the Election Commission does not resort to manipulation and dirty tactics.
Penang Chief Minister and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and PKR state chief and Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman also spoke at the rally.
Azmin, the Gombak MP, called on the people to exercise their national balloting duty responsibly. “Let this term be last for Umno and BN as the federal government.Let’s make sure that Najib becomes the first Umno Opposition Leader after the next election,” he said.
