Meluan rep insists on contesting in Julau if BN picks Salang

KUCHING: SPDP vice-president Wong Judat may have done an about-turn on his future in the party and Barisan Nasional, but his feud with Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum is far from over.

Wong, who is Meluan assemblyman, said he would still contest in Julau if Barisan picked Salang for the constituency.

“As of now, I am still a SPDP and Barisan man, but things may change at the eleventh hour.

“My stand to contest in Julau remains if Salang is standing in the constituency,” he said yesterday.

He had told SPDP president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom and deputy president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing as well as Barisan secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor that he would abandon this plan if Salang is dropped from the candidates list.

Wong has decided to stay put in SPDP after he met Mawan and Tiong in Kuala Lumpur on July 30.

On July 21, he said he would meet Mawan and Tiong out of respect for both before resigning from the party to join Sarawak Workers Party so he could contest against Salang.

He said then, his stand was final and nothing could change his mind.
