KUCHING: A group of SUPP veterans have formed a SUPP Special Political Task Force in helping to communicate with and approach the members at all levels.
The task force consists of Chung Kok Chiong (leader), Bong Kee Ling, Sze Moi Sen, Voon Kim Fah and Chiong Guek Choo. They are doing it out of love for the party.
“We will be going to the ground to meet with members and leaders from all levels. The feedback obtained from them will be channelled to the top party leadership,” Chung told a press conference at party headquarters here yesterday.
He said the task force was formed out of their love for the party and not intended to interfere with any party affairs but if they were invited to help, they would be willing to do so.
“We are not appointed by the party but the party leadership has accepted our service. The task force will be dissolved once the 13th general election is over,” Chung added.
He said that the many party veterans out there could still offer their services to the party and help to strengthen it.
“Based on my visits to Sarikei, Bintangor, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri recently, many young and older members were receptive to the idea of the task force. They agreed with our intention,” he added.
Chung added that the task force had received the support from more than 100 members and he was confident that the number would grow to more than 1,000.
“As party veterans for more than 50 years, we hope that the people would continue to put their faith in SUPP.
“Although we have many political parties, SUPP is still the party that the people can trust. Despite all the shortcomings that the party is facing, I still believe that SUPP can still serve the people and the country well,” Chung said.
Bong, meanwhile, urged party leaders at all levels to have a sense of self-discipline because it was only through self-discipline that there was unity in the party.
“In this world, there is no discipline which is more effective than self-discipline. It is through self-discipline that conflicts in the party can be resolved. And any conflicts in the party should be resolved within the party based on the party’s constitution.”
