DAP launches second ‘Ubah Machine’ for Sarawak

KUCHING: DAP yesterday launched its second ‘Ubah Machine’ for the state for the purpose of holding more ‘ceramah’ (political talk), especially in the rural areas.

Ubah Machine team coordinator Wong King Wei said the well-decorated truck would serve as a mobile stage for party leaders and candidates to address the crowd and convince them to vote for Pakatan Rakyat.

“The rural seats are vital for Pakatan in our bid to capture Putrajaya and form the new government. We will be moving to Sri Aman tomorrow (today),” he said to reporters after the launching ceremony at the state party headquarters here.

Ironically, Sri Aman is the very seat DAP ceded to PKR on the eve of nomination day, to the shock of many, especially DAP members, in Sri Aman.

PKR is fielding land rights activist Nicholas Mujah, who is also Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) secretary-general.

DAP is contesting 11 seats, PKR 15 and PAS five. One of the few rural seats to be contested by DAP is Mas Gading, where Wong himself accompanied DAP candidate Mordi Bimol to the nomination in Bau last Saturday. On another matter, state DAP secretary Chong Chieng Jen poked fun at the ‘Clean & Just’ slogan on billboards of SUPP’s Bandar Kuching candidate Tan Kai and Stampin incumbent Datuk Yong Khoon Seng.

Chong, who is defending Bandar Kuching, said the slogan was inappropriate given the many accusations hurled at the Barisan Nasional, including the sale of native lands as exposed in a Global Witness video.- theborneopost
