SIBU: The Publicity Committee of SUPP Sibu branch yesterday condemned DAP here for copying the billboard of BN candidate for Sibu, Vincent Lau, in an attempt to mock him.
In a press statement, it questioned DAP on whether resorting to such dirty tactic was their style of serving the people and if it had run out of ideas.
“This shows their poor political ethic, as they are good at tarnishing the image of others,” the committee said.
Sibu townsfolk yesterday woke up to see DAP’s election billboard placed next to Lau’s at Sibu Gateway.
Both written in Chinese, Lau’s billboard reads ‘The benefits are returned to the community…. With a heart for the people’.
On the other hand, DAP’s billboard, also written in Chinese, read ‘The benefits go to the cronies…. with the hurt for the people’.
The statement also said the billboard was clearly put to tarnish Lau’s image and to stir the people to hate him and the nation.
It also questioned what DAP had achieved for their voters.
The statement also accused the party of imitating BN’s work and was wasting money that people had donated.
“This is not the first time they are imitating the ideas of BN. Even for their manifesto, they are copying BN’s concepts too, except for making a bit of alterations.”
It further said by mocking SUPP they were playing around with Sibu’s future as they should be talking about serious things during the campaign.
Cautioning DAP that what they had done could backfire on them, the statement also reminded the party of the pledges they made during the ‘Bersih’ rally.
“Walk the talk. We call on their candidate Oscar Ling Chai Yew to condemn this mockery to show he respects the election and the future of Sibu. Do not use dirty tactics to fish for votes,” it said.- theborneopost
