KUCHING: Serian DAP chairman and candidate Edward Andrew Luwak denies that he has lost his chief operations officer, Matthew Jusses, since the latter was never a member of his branch to start with.
Reacting to a news report in a local daily yesterday on the resignation of Pakatan Rakyat members in Serian in support of Barisan Nasional, he denied that Matthew, who was reported to be one of those who had resigned, was ever appointed as claimed.
“In the first place, Matthew was never a member of Serian DAP. He is not a member of Pakatan Rakyat’s or DAP’s election team. We can therefore say that Matthew is a bogus Pakatan leader,” he told reporters here.
With Edward yesterday were his director of operations Nelson Kundai Ngareng, who is a former Youth and Sports Minister, and Lainus Luak, a former Serian MP and Edward’s election agent. He also introduced his lead campaigners for Tebedu and Kedup and that Kundai and Lainus were among his key campaign speakers.
Edward is in a three-cornered fight for Serian against the former incumbent Datuk Richard Riot Jaem and State Reform Party’s Johnny Aput.
“The highlighting of Matthew’s and others so-called resignation is one of the tricks by the Barisan candidate for Serian (Riot) to make people think that he has strong support,” Edward said.-thestar online
