Willie ready to rumble in Mambong

KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) potential candidate for Mambong, Willie Mongin, said he is “ready to rumble” in the coming 13th general election.

His candidacy for the seat was more or less confirmed as indicated yesterday when he, together with other party candidates, had a photo session with the party’s state chief Baru Bian.

Baru at a press conference announced that Willie is a potential candidate for the seat. Willie, when contacted yesterday, said the state PKR leadership had consented that he proceed with the visits to many places in the constituency.

“Given that my candidacy for the seat (Mambong) is more or less confirmed during today’s (yesterday) press conference, I am ready to rumble,” Willie said. Apart from Willie, PKR’s other potential candidates are Nicholas Mujah (Sri Aman), Thomas Laja (Kanowit), Dr Ramblan Rahman (Kota Samarahan), Andy Wong (Julau), Joshua Jabeng (Selangau) and Nicholas Bawin Anggat (Lubok Antu).

Willie also said that he was pleased with Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the area, which he described as supportive of him and a disciplined group.

“I am happy to note that the DAP group in Mambong is very cooperative and the members were seen in my ceramahs,” he said, adding that the group was seen during a ceramah in Kampung Simpok, Kpg Sg Duuh and other places.

PKR de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce the party’s candidates here this April 11.

Willie contested as PKR candidate in the 2011 state election in Bengoh in a four-cornered fight and lost to Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Dr Jerip Susil.

He secured 4,447 votes against Dr Jerip’s 8,093 votes.
