BAU: Mas Gading incumbent Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe is crossing his fingers on whether he will still be keeping his Yang Berhormat (YB) title.
When parliament was dissolved on April 3, he said, he was no longer a YB but automatically became an ordinary citizen just like any other commoners.
“Whether the title will be given back to me, we have to wait till nomination day to find out,” he said when speaking at the Association of Research and Development Movement of Singai Sarawak (Redeems) Youth and Sports Carnival at the Redeems Centre near here yesterday.
Dr Tiki, who is also the National Service Training Board chairman, added it was up to ‘the boss’ to decide if he would be renominated to defend Mas Gading.
“Whatever it is, my advice to the people of Mas Gading is to continue to support the BN government. So whoever is the candidate representing the government, we will have to support,” he stated.
At the event yesterday, Dr Tiki fulfilled his promises by disbursing his remaining minor rural project (MRP) grants to 11 villages in Singai area through Assistant Minister of Community Development Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie.
He had to disburse the grants through another serving elected representative as he no longer has the authority to do so now.
