KUCHING: Sarawak BN will only unveil its full list of candidates for the 13th general election after Prime Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak made an announcement on this issue.

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said the list was already finalised.

“The list is already finalised and everything seems to go well. Now, we are only waiting for the prime minister to announce it,” he told reporters after opening the Army’s Open Day at Le’Park here yesterday.

At the function, he pledged a state government fund of RM1 million for the people of Sabah following the Lahad Datu security crisis.

Taib, who is also state BN chairman, also confirmed that his party PBB would be fielding a new woman candidate in the coming polls.

He, however, did not disclose her identity nor the constituency she would be contesting in but PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg recently said their pick is Asajaya district officer Rubiah Wang and that she would be contesting in Kota Samarahan.

Taib: “We always go for change from time to time.”

There are 31 parliamentary seats in Sarawak, and in the 12th general election in 2008, BN won 30 while the DAP won one – Bandar Kuching. But in the May 16, 2010, by-election following the death of Sibu MP Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew, BN lost the seat to the DAP.
