KUCHING: PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday unveiled the identity of another six candidates for Sarawak in the run-up to the 13th general election.

He said Zulrusdi Hol would contest in Santubong, Ahmad Nazib Johari in Petra Jaya, Nicholas Bawin Anggat (Lubok Antu), Thomas Laja (Kanowit) Joshua Jabeng (Selangau) and Cecilia Siti Una (Betong). Zulrusdi is state PKR deputy chai rman whi le Ahmad is state Angkatan Muda Keadilan chairman.

With this disclosure, PKR has now revealed the names of 11 of its candidates. The others are state PKR chairman Baru Bian for Limbang, state PKR vice chairman Ali Biju (Saratok), Abang Zulkifl i Abang Engkeh (Batang Lupar), Roland Engan (Baram), and Abun Sui Anyit (Hulu Rajang).

Anwar told a press conference here said none of the 11 seats had overlapping-claim issue with its partners in Pakatan Rakyat, namely DAP and PAS.

He, however, could not confirm how many seats PKR would be contesting in the state as PKR respected the spirit of negotiations in Pakatan.

Anwar said it was all right for the DAP to claim Chinese-majority seats in the state, but he preferred negotiations to be done in a fair manner.

For instance, PKR had made way for the DAP to contest in Gelang Patah, Johor, and thus it expected the DAP to reciprocate the gesture when it comes to resolving overlapping issues in Sarawak.

“Gelang Patah has always been a PKR seat, but when Lim Kit Siang (DAP supremo) says he wants to contest, we welcome him to lead in Johor.

“At the same time, we also appeal to DAP to make way for PKR,” he said in response to DAP’s recent claim that it would contest in all Chinese-majority seats, including Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Lanang and Miri.

Anwar attended three ‘ceramah’ (political talk) on Thursday night – in Siburan, Third Mile Bazaar and Bandar Baru Semariang – which all saw sizeable crowds.-
