Pakatan Rakyat (PR) will sign a Kuching Declaration at the Malaysia Day celebration to be held at Chonglin Park, Tabuan Road, here on Sept 16. The PR leaders who will sign the Declaration are Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Baru Bian (PKR), Lim Kit Siang and Wong Ho Leng (DAP) and Datuk Seri Hadi Awang and Adam Ahid (Pas). Not details are available on the Declaration, but according to Sarawak PKR information chief Vernon Kedit, it will be a big surprise for the entire country. The Declaration will be released through the Internet and distributed to the public after the signing ceremony. On the Malaysia Day celebration, Sarawak DAP secretary Chong Chieng Jen said that it is important because it gives meanings to Sarawak as an equal partner in the formation of Malaysia. Sarawak PKR vice chairman See Chee How invited families and the public to come and enjoy the celebration. He said it will have a carnival-like atmosphere. Events have been arranged for the families and children. He assured that the Malaysia Day celebration is a non-partisan event where everybody, including supporters of the Barisan Nasional, can come and enjoy themselves. He reminded the people who want to come not to bring party flags, whether it PRK, DAP, Pas or BN flags. But bring along Malaysian flag. He also urged Sarawakians to hoist the Malaysian flag on Sept 16 to mark the Malaysia Day. Chong, meanwhile, said that Malaysia Day is more significant to Sarawak than Merdeka Day which falls on Aug 31.
