PM declines hint of next poll date

MARANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said yesterday the next general election can be held at any time before April next year.
“Right now, I and other Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders are going down to the ground to meet the people to instill in them greater confidence in the coalition,” he said.
Many factors have to be considered before calling a general election, he told reporters when asked about talk that Parliament may be dissolved next week to pave the way for the 13th general election.
“Perhaps one day they will make the right guess. Previously, they guessed that Parliament may be dissolved on 11.11.11 (Nov 11, 2011). I do not wish to say anything. I do not want to refute anything,” he said.
Earlier, Najib handed over the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) vouchers to people in the Rhu Rendang state constituency, here.
On another matter, the prime minister said he was surprised at the proposed dissolution of the newly established Parti Keadilan Insan Tanah Air (Kita), even before it is tested in a general election.
“In any struggle, we must have resilience. Winning or losing is another matter altogether. We may not be able to achieve our targets in a very short time,” he said.
He also said that the BN would not interfere in the domestic affairs of Kita but would watch the next move of its former members. — Bernama
