SIBU: Politics is an art of the impossible and hence, high profile individuals in the likes of former MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Kiat joining SNAP should not be brushed aside.
As least that was how the party’s senior vice-president Johnny Wong Sie Lee saw it when he said that there was no smoke without a fire.
“But if it does happen, it will be the first in history.
“In all honesty, I do not know much yet as I have not heard anything from my president (Stanley Jugol). But then again, anything is possible depending very much on how a person looks at it.
“If indeed it is true, I personally welcome him (Ong) as long as he wants to serve all Malaysians. Our door is always open to those who sincerely want to serve the party and people.
“We can’t stop people from joining us. We welcome anybody to join our multi-racial party,” Wong said yesterday.
He said someone called him on Monday asking about the news from a Chinese online portal quoting the former MCA president as moving around in the northern part of the Peninsula on a so-called ‘mosquito party’ platform.
Wong said that although the party’s strength was a far cry from that of yesteryears when they won 18 state seats, the table might turn someday.
“Who knows that the wind may blow in our direction one day and when it does, we will regain our past glory,” the 72-year-old veteran politician said.
