Taib is no ordinary leader, says Mohidin

Mohidin (front, third left) presents a souvenir to Taib during BDA’s 35th anniversary dinner at Bintulu Civic Centre recently.

BINTULU: Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has played a major role in the development of Bintulu, especially in the area of industrial development.

“We cannot deny his contributions because he has done tremendous things for the state,” said Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Datu Mohidin Ishak to The Borneo Post recently.

He added that the chief minister, who is also BDA board chairman, had helped ensure that Bintulu achieved economic excellence over the years.

“Our chief minister has vast experience in government and he could see far ahead, something which we ordinary people might not be able to see.

“In addition, he has the knack to pick the right investors to invest in the state.”

He said one only had to look at the rapid rise of Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) in the last four years to know that Taib walked the talk.

After four years, you can see the results (in SIP). It is not just empty talk,” he said, adding that Taib was fond of saying that the state would become the richest state in the country by 2030.

Mohidin said he had learned much from Taib’s leadership during his (Mohidin) tenure as BDA general manager in the last 10 years. On chief minister-designate Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem, Mohidin said he believed Taib had made the right choice because Adenan is a senior politician with vast experience and should be able to lead the state to greater height of progress.

“There is no doubt in my mind that he (Adenan) can move the state forward in peace and harmony.” - theborneopost
