MIRI: SUPP will continue to find ways to ensure it performs well in the next election.

Giving party members a boost, its president Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui said the party’s poor performance in the 13th general election should not bring down their spirit to continue fighting.

“The losses during 13th GE will not set the party away, instead we will continue to work harder for the greater future,” he stated during the breaking of fast with the community organised by SUPP at Merits Hotel here on Sunday.

Being one of the oldest parties in Sarawak, he said SUPP had gone through many elections.

“It is a fair game where there are the moments when we won and lost too. The most important is never to give up.”

He further said that SUPP is very fortunate to be a component par ty of Barisan Nasional (BN) that forms the government.

“As for me and SUPP, we are grateful enough to our friends who worked hard, struggled tirelessly to help BN candidates in the last general election.”

On the breaking of fast event, he said it was one of the ways for the party to get close to Muslims besides showing respect to the month of Ramadan.

Later, SUPP Piasau chairman Datuk Sebastian Ting thanked the people for giving him their undivided support during the last general election.

“We have all worked hard and I know that. You all have helped me. Without the help from you, many say that I will lose 6,000 votes, but I lost by only 2,000 votes during the election.”

Ting assured he would fulfil his promise to continue to serve the people in Miri.

Also present were Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang, community leaders and government representatives.-theborneopost
